Brief Biography…
John P. Matsis was born in Steeltown USA, Gary Indiana. He was the only
child of immigrant parents. From the beginning, academics came
easily, and he graduated from Indiana University with the highest of
honors and went on to Indiana University Medical School. A two-year
stint as an army medical officer, in part with the 82nd
Airborne Division, was interposed between graduate training in
Radiology and his marriage to Frances Ann. Their union resulted in
four daughters who quickly became the center of their lives.
Although the practice of medicine was demanding, John had a hidden
desire to be creative, to be one of those persons whose passion
could be conveyed either to the painter’s canvas or to the writer’s
pen. As the years passed, and the demand of medicine and family
lessened, he ventured into writing, first writing mystery and
literary short stories, and then novels. Upon achieving a small
measure of success—“your short story has been accepted for
publication”—he was hooked and inevitably writing became an
increasingly important part of his life.
